Our Chiropractic Techniques

Whole Body Healing at LifeWorks Family Chiropractic

We specialize in chiropractic care to help optimize the function of your spine and nervous system. Chiropractic care helps remove interference so you can heal naturally as you are meant to.

We utilize a variety of techniques to precisely assess any misalignments in your spine and any interference in your nervous system. Your Kelowna chiropractors will choose which adjusting approach will get the best and fastest results for you.

Our unique approach to rehabilitating your spine and nervous system is called Neuro-Spinal Re-Habituation. Our goal is to rid your body of old neurological and spinal patterns so you can maintain your best health.

A Variety of Chiropractic Techniques

Torque Release Technique (TRT)

This system is used to evaluate the tension or “tone” in your central nervous system. Too much or too little tension will distort the signals in your spinal cord like static on a poorly connected phone line.

A very low force adjustment, usually with a small hand-held instrument called an integrator, is used to make the correction.

Activator Methods®

This approach utilizes a hand held instrument to make a very low force adjustment.

Upper Cervical Care (Toggle/MC²)

This cutting-edge technique analyzes your particular misalignment. The corrective adjustments are made to line up the skull with the top two bones in the neck allowing maximum communication between the brain and the body.

The adjustment is made on a special table designed to minimize the force needed to make the correction while allowing the body to be as receptive as possible to the adjustment.

Thompson Drop Table

Adjustments are given as a specialized table drops about a ¼” to allow the adjustment to be done with very little force.

Diversified Manual Adjusting

This gentle by-hand approach is the most common adjusting technique in chiropractic. The doctor will deliver a specific targeted force to free up your spine and normalize your surrounding muscles and nervous system.

Koren Specific Technique (KST)

KST allows us to assess for any disturbance (subluxation) in your spine, nerves, discs, cranial (head) bones, jaw, extremities and more. Adjustments are given to release specific stresses from your body.

Adjustments can also be made sitting, standing or walking — whatever position your body needs to be adjusted in.

Webster Technique

The Webster Technique is specifically designed to balance and release pressure in the pelvis during pregnancy. This approach can cut down on discomfort throughout pregnancy and can help to ease the birthing process.

This approach optimizes the nerves, joints and ligaments of the pelvis and has therefore been successful in helping breech babies to shift themselves from a breech position to the correct, head-down position allowing for a safer, more natural birth. Dr. Whillans uses this technique to help pregnant women experience a more optimal delivery.
